Having a space at home where you can relax and have your moments of peace is really helpful, especially during these trying times.
Thinking of how you can improve your gardening skills? Try making your own low-maintenance and budget-friendly Zen garden.
Zen values the importance of meditation and stress reduction. This is a great breather at home or even at your work desk when you are always busy and stressed. Plus, the process of making it is pretty meditative too!
Where to begin?
Identify the best spot
Decide where you will be having your Zen garden. Choose a space where it can be quiet and won’t be interfering with your daily activities.
Prepare your sand, stones, and tray
The main concept of Zen is composed of raked sand or gravel on a wooden tray surrounded by polished stones. The raked sand symbolizes flowing water. There are cheap mini wooden rakes you can buy online, but you can use your fork at home as well. For the tray, it can be any used container or even just a plate.
Add natural elements available outdoors
Simplicity is key when it comes to Zen. The things being used are mostly natural like stones, sand, wood, and rocks. There’s usually no metal or other manmade materials. You can also try adding a touch of bamboo.
Take your time
Making your Zen garden is not an overnight process. Take all the time you need and be creative on how you would like to design it. This is going to be your peaceful space after all.
Happy gardening!
